Due to a technical malfunction, a Russian passenger plane had to make an emergency landing in Egypt shortly after leaving the runway on Friday.
The Ural Airlines Airbus A-321, which was heading to Yekaterinburg, Russia, with 236 passengers on board, had to return to Sharm el-Sheikh Airport, according to Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry.
The Ministry’s statement indicated that a technical malfunction occurred in one of the engines just 10 minutes after takeoff, prompting the pilot to urgently request clearance for an emergency landing from air traffic control.
Once the aircraft landed safely, all passengers were transferred to the international terminal. Authorities have started investigating the cause of the malfunction and are conducting the necessary repairs.
