U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that phase two of his Gaza plan is “going to happen pretty soon,” but did not provide a specific timeline.
Asked by reporters when the next phase would begin, Trump said the process is “going along well” and highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the region.
“They had a problem today with a bomb that went off — hurt some people, probably killed some,” he said at the White House, referring to recent incidents in southern Gaza.
“But it’s going on very well. We have peace in the Middle East. People don’t realise it.”
The comments came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a response to clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian groups in Rafah.
