U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that his latest proposal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine is not his final offer, adding that the conflict "should have been ended a long time ago."

“No, not my final offer. No, we’d like to get to peace. It should have happened a long time ago… One way or another we have to get it ended,” Trump told reporters.

When asked what would happen if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the plan, Trump replied:

“Well, then he can continue, then he can continue to fight his little heart out.”

The comments come as Ukraine and Washington’s European allies say the 28‑point peace plan could serve as a basis for negotiations, but requires further work and coordination to be acceptable. European leaders have been meeting behind the scenes at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg to develop a common approach ahead of a Thursday deadline set by the White House for Kyiv’s response.

Trump’s latest remarks follow repeated efforts by European and U.S. officials to engage with Ukraine on a proposal intended to halt the war, while reinforcing Kyiv’s sovereignty and security guarantees.
