United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday strongly condemned Russia’s recent missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. Kyiv reported that the attacks killed at least 25 people and injured 73 others.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told a news conference that the strikes “target civilians and civilian infrastructure, violating international humanitarian law and are unacceptable.” He added that such attacks “must stop immediately.”
Dujarric described the overnight attack on Wednesday morning as “one of the deadliest against civilians since the four-year-long war began,” emphasising the urgent need for a ceasefire.
“This attack underlines the necessity of a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire as a first step towards a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace,” he said.
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian missiles hit residential buildings in the western city of Ternopil on Wednesday morning (19 November). At least 25 people, including three children, were killed and 73 others injured, marking one of the deadliest attacks in recent months.
