In South Korea, thousands of protesters have gathered in the country's capital, Seoul, on Saturday to call for the immediate resignation of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Tens of thousands of people have gathered in South Korea's capital, Seoul, to demand for more action against impeached President, Yoon Suk Yeol. The protesters are calling for his impeachment to be fully implemented, and are also demanding he resigns.
The impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol follows his attempts earlier this month to instate martial law. Yeol was replaced by acting President Han Duck-soo, who also faced a similar fate after declining to appoint three justices to fill vacancies at the Constitutional Court. Now, South Korea's Finance Minister, Choi Sang-mok, assumes the position of acting president while the cases of Yoon and Han are considered by the Constitutional Court.
Analysts believe Choi is headed down the same path because of limitations in the scope of his power.
South Korea's Constitutional Court is set to hold a second hearing next week to review whether to reinstate Yoon or remove him permanently from office. The court has 180 days to reach a decision.
