Kīlauea Volcano on Hawaii Island paused its eruption on December 26 after days of intense activity, including high lava fountains.
Kīlauea Volcano on Hawaii Island stopped erupting on Thursday, December 26, as confirmed by the US Geological Survey (USGS). The eruption, which began early on Monday, December 23, at around 2:20 a.m. local time, featured dramatic volcanic activity, including towering red lava fountains and lava flows advancing at a pace of several yards per hour.
Scientists from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) have been closely monitoring the event, with lava fountains reaching heights of approximately 246 feet (75 meters). While there was no immediate threat to human life or infrastructure, the USGS reported that volcanic gas emissions were at dangerously high levels.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to stay informed about any new developments.
