Three Qatari diplomats have been killed in a car accident in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, two security sources told Reuters on Sunday.

According to the sources, two other diplomats were injured in the incident.

It remains unclear whether the victims were part of Qatar’s negotiating delegation, which, alongside Egyptian officials in Sharm el-Sheikh, helped secure an agreement earlier this week between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan.

The Egyptian resort city is due to host a global summit on Monday aimed at finalising a deal to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.
