Police and emergency workers were seen gathered late on Saturday, 4 October, in downtown Montgomery, following a shooting which left two dead and 14 injured according to Lieutenant Governor of Alabama Will Ainsworth.
ABC News, citing police officials, said the two fatalities from the incident near the Alabama State Capitol building were a 17-year-old boy and 43-year-old woman.
Among the wounded, seven of the victims were under the age of 17.
Police said preliminary investigations showed multiple people pulled out firearms after an individual who had been shot at returned fire.
No arrests were announced. Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed was cited by ABC as saying the shooting took place following a "disagreement that could have been avoided", without elaborating further.
