Maia Sandu takes office for her second term as Moldova's president, following a decisive election victory and a ceremony attended by key officials and diplomats.
Maia Sandu has been inaugurated in as Moldova's president for her second term.
The inauguration was attended by parliament members, Constitutional Court officials, and foreign diplomats. Manole Domnica, the Constitutional Court President, declared Sandu the Republic of Moldova's president after announcing the official results of last month's presidential election.
Moldovan law stipulates that a person may not hold the presidency for more than two consecutive terms.
In the November 3 run-off election, the incumbent, Sandu, garnered 55.33% of the vote, surpassing her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, who received 51% of the domestic vote. S
andu's victory was largely secured by over 300,000 Moldovan migrant workers voting at 200 polling stations across the EU. Despite allegations of misuse of administrative resources and organised voter transport, the Central Election Commission dismissed all complaints.
