TikTok will be majority owned, controlled by U.S. entities, Trump order says

TikTok will come under majority ownership and control of U.S. entities under an executive order signed Thursday by President Donald Trump.

The order, published by the White House, specifies “strict oversight of software updates, algorithms, and data flows.”

ByteDance and its affiliates will retain under 20% of the new joint venture, which will be overseen by a newly formed board of directors and operate under rules designed to “appropriately safeguard” Americans’ data and national security, the order states.
