U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a presidential memorandum directing federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in all appropriate cases in the nation’s capital.
The order instructs the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia to fully enforce federal capital punishment laws, aiming to “deter and punish the most heinous crimes,” the White House said.

A White House statement said the move “underscores President Trump’s determination to protect the capital for all Americans and ensure violent criminals face the toughest consequences under law.”
