Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the southern Israeli city of Eilat on 24 September 2025, leaving at least 20 people injured, two heavily.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the group’s drone forces carried out a “significant military operation” targeting Israeli positions in Eilat, adding that interception systems failed to stop the drones. This followed a previous Houthi drone attack on 23 September targeting Eilat and Beersheba.

Israel’s military confirmed a drone launched from Yemen fell in Eilat, with interception attempts made. An initial investigation reported by Israel Hayom indicated air defences failed to intercept the drone.

The attack comes after earlier Houthi drones struck Eilat’s hotel zone, causing material damage but no casualties. The Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones towards Israel. Most of these projectiles have been intercepted or fell short of Israeli territory.
