Altay Prefecture in China's Xinjiang is emerging as a popular winter tourism destination, with a long snow season and well-developed ski resorts, drawing both local and international visitors. With an average snow season of 210 days, Altay offers prime conditions for winter sports enthusiasts.

The region’s ski resorts are popular with both domestic and international tourists, who also enjoy snowmobiling, sledding, and evening sunset parties with stunning views.

"I'm here for skiing, the scenery is amazing, and I'm very excited—I'm glad I came," said a skier, while Xiao Shan, a homestay manager, added, "I'm very optimistic about the village’s development, with a new ski resort planned near the Haba River, making the area a future winter sports hub."

Tourists are flocking to Altay, especially along the newly opened Altay-Hemu Highway, which showcases spectacular landscapes of mountains, canyons, and glaciers. With 52,000 hotel and homestay beds, Altay has seen a 48% increase in accommodation capacity, reflecting growing demand for winter tourism.
