The U.S. will provide $145 million in assistance to Armenia to support regional connectivity and economic development, a State Department official announced on Thursday.

Brendan Hanrahan, senior bureau official for European and Eurasian Affairs, said the aid would advance commitments made at the peace summit hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., last month.

“This marks the first major step towards making the Trump Route for Peace & Prosperity a reality,” Hanrahan wrote on X, referring to the U.S.-backed initiative aimed at linking Azerbaijan, Armenia and Türkiye through the Zangezur Corridor.

The summit saw Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sign a 17-point peace agreement, including mutual recognition of borders, the renunciation of territorial claims, a pledge to avoid force, and the establishment of a bilateral commission to oversee implementation. Both sides also agreed to withdraw claims from international courts once the deal takes effect.
