The Mexican Navy seized 1,600 kilograms of cocaine in a maritime operation off the coast of Guerrero, according to a press release from the Mexican government on Wednesday (September 10).
The seizure was made during surveillance operations aimed at maintaining rule of law in Mexican maritime zones.
Naval and aerial patrols identified and intercepted a vessel southwest of Acapulco, where authorities found 54 bundles containing roughly 1,600 packages of cocaine.
Officials estimate the seizure prevented the distribution of around 3,200 million doses of the drug, which they say represents an economic blow of 371,800 million pesos (approximately $19.91 billion) to criminal organisations.
