Prince Harry met with King Charles for tea on Wednesday at Clarence House, marking their first in-person meeting in nearly two years and a potential step toward reconciliation after a highly publicized rift.

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his father, King Charles III, held a private tea at Clarence House in London on Wednesday, their first face-to-face meeting in 20 months. The last time they met was in February 2024, shortly after Charles announced he was undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.

Harry, flew into Britain on Monday for a series of engagements and went directly to an Invictus Games event in London after the meeting. When asked by a reporter about his father, he said: “Yes, he's great, thank you.”

Since relocating to California in 2020 with his wife Meghan and their two children, Harry has been openly critical of the royal family in interviews, documentaries, and his autobiography Spare, causing a breakdown in relations with Charles and Prince William.

After losing a legal battle over his security in May, Harry expressed a desire for reconciliation. “I would love reconciliation with my family… There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. And life is precious,” he told.

Buckingham Palace and Harry’s representatives had remained tight-lipped ahead of the visit, though July reports indicated secret meetings in London, hinting at early steps toward mending the relationship.
