Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv's military administration, reported that eight missiles were launched, including hypersonic Kinzhal and Iskander/KN-23 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defenses engaged in efforts to intercept the missiles. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that four of the injured individuals were hospitalized.
In response, Russia's defense ministry stated that the missile strikes on Kyiv were retaliatory actions following alleged Ukrainian attacks on Russia's Rostov region. These attacks reportedly involved U.S.-made ATACMS and British-made Storm Shadow missiles.
