The EU has pledged an additional €30 billion in financial aid to Ukraine for 2025, while also addressing the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis in Brussels talks.
The European Union will provide an additional €30 billion in financial aid to Ukraine in 2025, EU Council President Antonio Costa announced on Thursday, December 19, after a meeting with EU leaders in Brussels.
Costa also highlighted that the EU has already delivered approximately €130 billion in financial support to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in 2022.
In addition to Ukraine, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the ongoing security situation in Syria. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that any returns of Syrian refugees are "voluntary, safe, and dignified."
