A Moscow court has ordered a suspect in the killing of Russian General Igor Kirillov to pre-trial detention, alleging the attack was directed by Ukraine's SBU security service.
A Moscow court on Thursday, December 19, ordered the suspect in the killing of top Russian general Igor Kirillov to be placed in pre-trial detention for two months. The court announced the decision via its Telegram channel.
The suspect, identified as a native of Uzbekistan, has been charged with committing an act of terrorism resulting in the death of a person, according to a notice on the court's website.
Russian authorities stated on Wednesday that the suspect had confessed to planting and detonating a bomb in Moscow. The explosion claimed the life of General Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops.
Officials allege that the attack was carried out under the direction of Ukraine's SBU security service.
