Flash floods and cloudbursts in Northwest Pakistan have killed at least 365 people over five days, displacing thousands as authorities warn of more storms as monsoon rains continue.

Residents of Dalori Bala village in Swabi district described how a torrent of water and rocks swept through their homes within seconds after a cloudburst on Monday, killing 30 and leaving nine more missing.

Locals said walls and roofs collapsed, livestock were lost, and belongings were washed away.

The mountainous northwest has experienced the worst floods of this year’s monsoon, with Buner district alone recording more than 200 deaths after 150 mm of rain fell in an hour on Friday.

Authorities report that more than 25,000 people have been rescued, though dozens remain missing.

In southern Pakistan, heavy rains flooded Karachi’s main roads, causing traffic chaos and power outages, with 145 mm of rain recorded in the city.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that intense monsoon spells could continue until 10 September.

The army and air force have joined ongoing rescue operations as Pakistan grapples with widespread flooding across both northern and southern regions.
