British prosecutors are reviewing new evidence to decide whether to charge Lucy Letby over additional baby deaths at two hospitals, as police expand their investigation into both the former nurse and hospital leadership.

The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is reviewing a new file of evidence to assess if further charges should be brought against Lucy Letby, already convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill eight others. The allegations concern additional deaths and incidents at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Letby, 35, is serving a whole-life sentence. Her legal team continues to assert her innocence, with the Criminal Cases Review Commission currently reviewing her case.

Meanwhile, police arrested three senior figures from the Chester hospital in a separate probe into potential corporate and gross negligence manslaughter. The CPS has not yet been asked to review that part of the investigation.
