Qarabağ FK is facing Ajax in a key Champions League league phase match at the Tofiq Bəhramov Stadium in Baku.
The Azerbaijani champions come into the fixture after a solid run in the competition, while Ajax arrive with their familiar attacking style and quick transitions.
Qarabağ have scored eight goals so far in the league phase and have earned four points from home matches against Copenhagen and Chelsea. The team have relied on organised defensive shape, controlled transitions and pace on the wings to create scoring opportunities.
Ajax have struggled in the Champions League this season, scoring only once in five matches and losing nine of their last ten games in the competition. The Dutch side are known for high pressing and fluid interplay, which could test Qarabağ’s defence early in the match.
The two clubs met last season in the Europa League, with Ajax winning 3–0 in Baku. Qarabağ have yet to beat a Dutch side in European competition and aim to improve their record in front of a near-capacity home crowd.
Qarabağ’s squad is mostly full-strength, with Brazilian winger Kady absent, while Ajax travel without Wout Weghorst due to injury. The match offers both teams a chance to strengthen their positions in the league phase and for Qarabağ to continue demonstrating their growing presence in European football.
