Serdal Adali becomes Besiktas’s new president, winning a record 8,901 votes. Leadership change follows Hasan Arat's resignation over poor team results.
Istanbul’s Besiktas sports club has elected Serdal Adali as its new president.
"Serdal Adali received a record-breaking 8,901 votes," the club announced on X, defeating rival candidate Huseyin Yucel, who garnered 3,637 votes during the extraordinary general assembly on Sunday.
This leadership change comes after Hasan Arat stepped down as president last month due to the team's disappointing performance.
Arat, 65, had been elected to the position in December 2023 during an extraordinary general assembly.
Besiktas’s football team, known as the Black Eagles, is currently ranked sixth in the Turkish Super Lig with 26 points and 28th in the Europa League with six points.
