Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced plans to invite Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Armenia for the European Political Community (EPC) summit, scheduled for spring 2026 in Yerevan.
“The 8th summit of the European Political Community will be held in Yerevan next spring, with the support of Türkiye, which is also a member of the EPC format,” Pashinyan said during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in Türkiye. “I intend to invite President Erdoğan to participate in the summit, and I hope that next year our meeting will take place in the Republic of Armenia,” he added.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia in Istanbul on Friday. The meeting addressed contacts between Türkiye and Armenia, the peace and dialogue process in the South Caucasus, and current regional developments.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stressed the importance of the consensus reached in the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing Türkiye’s commitment to supporting regional development efforts based on a "win-win" approach.
The discussion also addressed potential measures within the framework of the normalization process between Türkiye and Armenia.
According to Türkiye's Communications Directorate post on X, President Erdoğan highlighted that Türkiye is employing all available diplomatic channels not only to promote stability in the Caucasus but throughout the broader region. He also emphasized ongoing engagements with other leaders to mitigate the risks arising from escalating violence following Israel’s attacks on Iran.
In a post on X, Pashinyan said he had an "in-depth exchange" with Erdogan at which they "discussed the Armenia-Turkiye normalisation process, regional developments, and the importance of sustained dialogue".
He reassured the Turkish leader that Armenia was "committed to building peace and stability in our region".
