The United States has launched strikes on Iran late Tuesday near the Strait of Hormuz with Iranian state media reporting explosions in several areas including Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island.
Eyewitness footage shows what appears to be a projectile streaking across the sky, followed by a flash of light as it appears to reach the ground, filmed from Eilat, Israel, looking towards Jordan.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued an alert over a potential threat and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location.
The ministry did not immediately provide further details about the nature of the threat.
U.S. Central Command said on Tuesday that U.S. forces had completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets on 1 September, following what it described as recent attempted attacks by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. service members.
Kuwait’s military said its air defenses were confronting hostile drone attacks following what it described as “Iranian aggression”, adding that explosions heard in the country were the result of air defense systems intercepting the drones.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army urged residents to follow security and safety instructions issued by the authorities.
Iranian media reported that Iran's military launched a large-scale drone attack targeting a U.S. base in Bahrain.
