At Baku's Military Court, Levon Mnatsakanyan admitted planting landmines in Azerbaijani territories.
During Thursdasy's session at the Baku Military Court of the on-going trial of the April 2016 battles, the accused Levon Mnatsakanyan, who, at the time held the rank of lieutenant-general for Armenia's Minister of Defence, responded to prosecutor’s questions regarding the placement of landmines in Azerbaijani territories. He stated that both anti-personnel and anti-tank mines were planted in the occupied areas.
Mnatsakanyan noted that in the initial phase, mines produced in the Soviet Union were laid, and later mines obtained from Russia through Armenia were supplied to the so-called regime.
“Recently, mines were also produced in the Republic of Armenia and given to us,” he added.
It should be noted that in previous court hearings, Levon Mnatsakanyan emphasized that the so-called regime’s “army” is considered a part of the Armenian Armed Forces.
The court is also reviewing the case of Armenian citizens accused of crimes resulting from Armenia’s military aggression, including crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes such as planning and waging an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism and its financing, forcible seizure and retention of power, and other serious offenses.
The trial will continue on Friday.
