The Caspian coast transformed into a hub for gaming, tech, and pop culture this weekend as GameSummit 2025 kicked off in Baku, bringing together developers, esports players, cosplayers, and tech enthusiasts for the region’s largest gaming and innovation festival.
Now in its third year, GameSummit blends industry networking with festival energy — featuring tech talks, esports tournaments, cosplay showcases, and game demos from across the region and beyond. Attendees filled the venue with vibrant costumes, creative displays, and a shared passion for digital culture.
"Imagine a place where retro arcades, board games, battle-hardened esports pros, and international game devs all meet under the Caspian sun — welcome to GameSummit in Baku," said AnewZ correspondent Narchichek Jahangirli.
The event opened with a live show and was followed by talks from local developers. Farid Hagverdiev, CEO of Azdimension, emphasized building not just games, but a gaming ecosystem in Azerbaijan:
"We develop games across platforms—PC, mobile, VR, AR—and also organize events. Our goal is to grow the whole ecosystem."
From the world of cosplay, participants like Elli Magiramova and Fatima brought popular characters to life:
“I am cosplaying a character from Genshin Impact,” said Magiramova.
“This is my first time here. I really liked it—so many interesting people. I’ll definitely come again next year,” Fatima added.
Indie developers also shared their journeys. Arif Ismailov, solo developer of Biomass, spoke about the challenge of creating a game alone:
"I develop every aspect myself—design, art, AI, sound. It's very challenging."
GameSummit isn’t just for industry insiders — it's designed to inspire.
“Before, I didn’t know people in our country developed AI or next-gen games,” said attendee Saida Asgarova. “This event made me realize how fun and innovative this world can be.”
Open to the public over the weekend, GameSummit 2025 continues to bridge technology, creativity, and community - placing Baku at the heart of the South Caucasus gaming scene.
