The meeting included representatives from Guinea-Bissau’s Ministries of Energy and Natural Resources, the State Oil Company, and Environment Minister Viriato Cassamá. Discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in the energy sector to strengthen bilateral ties.
Guinea-Bissau expressed interest in Azerbaijan's expertise in oil and gas production, geological exploration, energy transition, and decarbonization. Potential areas of cooperation were identified during the talks.
Azerbaijan highlighted its international energy projects, including gas supplies to 12 countries. Officials shared information on Azerbaijan's achievements in energy transition, supported by over $2 billion in investments aimed at increasing renewable energy's share in the national energy capacity to 33%.
Discussions also covered new energy legislation, partnerships with international investors, and the development of “green” energy interconnectors between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Europe, and Central Asia. Additionally, both sides exchanged views on COP29 energy initiatives and related strategies.
