Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi spoke by phone with IAEA Director Rafael Mariano Grossi, warning that any political actions against Iran at next week’s Board of Governors meeting would have consequences.
Araqchi demanded that the IAEA’s reports reflect the facts without allowing the agency to be used for political purposes against Iran.
This call followed the release of the IAEA’s latest quarterly report, which said Iran continues to increase its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60%.
Araqchi asked Grossi to deliver this message specifically to the European parties of the 2015 nuclear deal — the UK, France, and Germany — who accuse Iran of violating the agreement after the U.S. withdrew.
The Europeans are threatening to trigger the “snapback” sanctions mechanism, which expires on October 18, 2025.
