Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Steve Daines, a member of U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Senator Daines congratulated Azerbaijan on its Independence Day and praised the country's contributions to joint missions in Afghanistan, especially its role in securing Kabul Airport. He expressed strong support for enhancing U.S.-Azerbaijan relations and called for more U.S. Senate visits to the region. President Aliyev appreciated the message from U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasizing the importance of furthering cooperation in security, energy, and the economy.
The meeting also highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a key logistics hub in the Middle Corridor. At the end of the visit, Senator Daines presented a keepsake to President Aliyev.
