On May 12, the Baku Military Court continued hearings in the criminal case against Armenian citizens accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan. Defendants include Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and others.
Victims gave testimony describing atrocities committed during the 1993 occupation of Kalbajar, particularly in the village of Bashlibel. They reported that Azerbaijani civilians were shot, those hiding in caves were targeted with gas bombs, and many—including women and children—were brutally killed. Some witnesses also stated that foreign mercenaries participated in the attacks.
Prosecutors presented drone footage, which victims used to identify their hiding places. Participants in the trial stated that these crimes were planned and carried out by Armenia’s leadership and high-ranking officials.
The next court session is scheduled for May 15.
