Azerbaijan and Kuwait to enhance cooperation in agriculture
Azerbaijan and Kuwait have formalized plans to cooperate in the field of agriculture through a newly approved memorandum.
According to a statement released by the Press Center of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an attempt by an organised criminal group to illegally cross the state border and smuggle narcotics was successfully prevented on April 8.
Three unidentified individuals were spotted by a patrol unit of the “Goytapa” border detachment attempting to cross into Azerbaijan. The border area was sealed off, and warning shots were fired after the suspects ignored orders to stop. The trespassers responded with armed resistance, opening fire on the guards.
In accordance with Azerbaijani law, border guards returned fire, killing one suspect and detaining another. The third managed to flee back into Iranian territory under the cover of darkness.
A search of the area uncovered a Winchester rifle, a night vision device, bullet casings, and 32.4 kg of marijuana. The Iranian side has been informed, and investigations are ongoing.
