On April 11, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad al-Sharaa, in Antalya.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that, immediately after the changes, Azerbaijan sent a delegation to Syria, and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Damascus, which had been inactive for a long time, has resumed its operations. He emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to participate in the restoration and stabilization process in Syria.
Ahmad al-Sharaa expressed his gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support and highlighted the importance of cooperation in areas such as energy, infrastructure, and security. He also mentioned that he has done everything possible to restore stability in Syria, but foreign factors are complicating the process.
The development of a trilateral cooperation format between Azerbaijan, Syria, and Turkey was also discussed during the meeting. It was agreed to facilitate mutual visits by high-level official delegations and business representatives. President Ilham Aliyev invited Ahmad al-Sharaa to visit Azerbaijan, and the invitation was accepted with gratitude.
