The Azerbaijan pavilion has officially opened at the Urban Expo, held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), showcasing the country’s urban development strategy, cultural heritage and post-conflict reconstruction priorities.
Described as the largest national pavilion at the exhibition, the space covers 1,500 square metres and highlights Azerbaijan’s contemporary approach to sustainable urban planning and long-term development.
The pavilion’s architectural concept draws inspiration from the futuristic design language of the Heydar Aliyev Centre, reflecting Azerbaijan’s emphasis on modern architecture and urban identity.
The exhibition presents Azerbaijan’s urban development projects alongside elements of cultural heritage, including the historic district of Icherisheher, as well as environmental initiatives, tourism potential and contemporary architectural landmarks.
A significant section of the pavilion is dedicated to reconstruction efforts in Garabagh and East Zangezur, showcasing post-conflict redevelopment projects, including “smart city” and “smart village” initiatives aimed at building digitally integrated and environmentally sustainable settlements.
Authorities also highlighted plans to transform the region into a green energy zone as part of broader national development strategies.

The pavilion includes dedicated networking and meeting areas for official discussions, along with presentation halls, conference zones and interactive VR installations.
Visitors can also explore cinema and tourism sections, participate in masterclasses and experience curated displays of Azerbaijani culture and national cuisine.
During the forum, the pavilion will host a series of high-level sessions focused on key urban policy areas, including the Baku Master Plan 2040, digital transformation in energy systems, migration and urban governance, and the intersection of urbanisation and climate change.

The Urban Expo, one of the central platforms of WUF13, brings together countries, cities, international organisations and private sector participants to showcase innovative approaches to urban development and exchange best practices.
