The 19th Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition and Forum, Caspian Agro Week, and the 31st InterFood Azerbaijan have opened in Baku, bringing together global industry leaders, policymakers and investors to showcase innovations in agriculture and food production.
The events are being held at the Baku Expo Centre and were officially visited by President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva. Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov briefed the head of state on the scale and scope of this year’s expanded exhibitions.
This year’s edition has attracted 447 companies from 45 countries, marking a significant increase in international participation. For the first time, Brazil, Ethiopia and Northern Cyprus are represented with national pavilions, alongside strong participation from Germany, Belarus, Italy, South Korea, Georgia, Indonesia and the Netherlands.
The exhibitions cover a broad range of sectors, including agricultural machinery, irrigation systems, livestock, crop production, logistics, veterinary medicine, food technologies and packaging. The Caspian Agro Week format also incorporates conferences, forums and visits to innovative farms, creating a wider platform for knowledge exchange and business development.
A key theme of this year’s exhibition is the integration of technology into agriculture. The event showcases “Smart Agro” solutions such as artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, smart villages and digital farming systems.
Companies including Azersun Holding, Agro Dairy and Azera Holding presented integrated “farm-to-table” production models, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing agro-industrial ecosystem and its focus on efficiency, sustainability and job creation.
International exhibitors such as Holmer (Germany), New Holland (Italy) and PhosAgro (Russia) showcased advanced agricultural machinery and fertiliser technologies, while firms from Spain, Israel and the Netherlands presented solutions in irrigation, greenhouse systems, dairy farming and precision agriculture.
The Ministry of Agriculture also participated with its own stand, presenting state support mechanisms, digital transformation initiatives and pilot projects using artificial intelligence in precision farming and land management.
Supporting institutions, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency and other international partners, reinforced the exhibition’s role as a platform for promoting Azerbaijan’s “Made in Azerbaijan” brand and expanding SME access to global markets.
Farmers from across the country are also being introduced to international best practices, with more than 500 participants from 51 regions attending this year’s programme.
Alongside the exhibition, the fifth Agrobusiness Development Forum was held in Baku as part of Caspian Agro Week, bringing together government officials, international partners and industry experts to discuss the future of Azerbaijan’s agri-food sector.
Speaking at the forum, Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said the platform plays an important role in shaping strategic approaches for the sector, emphasising ongoing reforms focused on digitalisation, innovation and artificial intelligence.
Discussions centred on food security, sustainable development, climate-resilient agriculture, efficient resource management and expanding export potential. Participants also highlighted the importance of modernising production systems to strengthen long-term competitiveness.
Together, Caspian Agro Week, InterFood Azerbaijan and the Agrobusiness Development Forum have established themselves as the region’s leading platforms for agricultural innovation and cooperation.
Bringing together global companies, policymakers and investors, the events are increasingly positioning Azerbaijan as a regional hub for agri-food development, technological transformation and international trade partnerships in the sector.
