The Trump Organization, a real estate conglomerate owned by U.S. President Donald Trump and managed by his sons, has announced plans to build Georgia’s tallest building in the capital, Tbilisi. The project will mark the first Trump-branded development in the region.
The 70-storey Trump Tower Tbilisi will overlook the Georgian capital’s Central Park and include luxury apartments, a hotel, high-end shops and premium restaurants, according to a statement released by the Trump Organization. The tower has been designed by architecture firm Gensler.
Donald Trump previously unveiled plans in 2012 to build a 47-storey Trump Tower in Batumi, Georgia’s second city on the Black Sea coast. However, the Trump Organization and its Georgian partner, Silk Road Group, terminated the project in 2017.
Since Donald Trump’s first tenure as U.S. President in 2017, the company has been managed by his sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., to avoid a conflict of interest.
The Trump Organization will collaborate on Trump Tower Tbilisi with Georgian real estate developers Biograpi Living and Archi Group, New York City-based real estate investment firm Sapir Organization, as well as Blox Group and Finvest Georgia.
The group said development of the tower would help position Tbilisi as an international hub for investment and culture.
"The Trump name is synonymous with some of the most luxurious real estate developments in the world, and Trump Tower Tbilisi stands as a continuation of that legacy,” Executive Vice President Eric Trump said.
“We are proud to bring this globally recognised standard of excellence to Georgia and are especially pleased to collaborate with such respected and professional developers on this project,” he added.
The Trump Organization said that Tbilisi was continuing to experience steady demand for high-quality residential development, noting that residential values in key districts of the city were increasing by between 7–10% annually.
“An established trade and energy corridor, Tbilisi is increasingly drawing comparisons to emerging luxury destinations such as Lisbon and early-stage Dubai as its hospitality and lifestyle offerings continue to expand,” the company added.
