Representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia conducted a joint inspection of the Sadarak–Yeraskh railway section on January 15 as part of ongoing efforts to restore regional transport links.

According to Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers, the inspection was aimed at assessing the current technical condition of the railway line and determining its suitability for the movement of specialised railway construction equipment. The assessment is part of preparatory work to support the rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure along the route.

During the inspection, officials from both sides exchanged views on technical and engineering issues related to evaluating the condition of the railway infrastructure, including the track, supporting facilities and overall readiness for potential restoration work.

The Sadarak–Yeraskh railway section is regarded as an important element in discussions on reopening transport and communication links between Azerbaijan and Armenia, following recent agreements on regional connectivity.

Authorities said the inspection marked a practical step towards implementing previously agreed measures aimed at improving transport infrastructure and facilitating future railway operations in the region.
