Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Tehran for Baku on Sunday (7 December) evening to hold talks with Azerbaijan’s President and Foreign Minister.
A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, said the visit will focus on expanding bilateral relations and contributing to peace and stability in the Caucasus, which remains a priority for Tehran.
As part of his diplomatic itinerary, Araghchi will later travel to Russia and Belarus to continue regular consultations between Iran and the two countries.
The U.S military said it carried out retaliatory strikes on Iran on Thursday (7 May). Meanwhile, Iran's Joint Military Command accused the U.S. of breaching the ceasefire, by striking an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and launching attacks on several Iranian cities.
