President of the United States of America Donald Trump has sent a letter of gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Expressing gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Pashinyan for the joint letter advancing his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, President Donald Trump said: “I am deeply appreciative of your kind recognition, which inspires us to sustain our important mission.”

“As President of the United States, I remain committed to ending conflicts across the globe and to securing peace and prosperity for all people."

"With your ongoing partnership, we will achieve the impossible. Thank you, again, for your continued support,” President Donald Trump added.

Trump for years has openly campaigned for the award for years including a mention during his speech at the 80th UN General Assembly, “Everyone says I should get the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Some sources have alleged that President Trump spoke to Jens Stoltenberg, Norwegian Finance Minister to lobby for the peace prize and discuss tariffs.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Pakistani Government, Thai buddhist monks, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and a Republican congressman are also part of those who said they nominated President Trump for the Prize.

He ultimately lost out to Venezeulan opposition leader Maria Machado who is an open critic of current president Nicolas Maduro.

Tarek William Saab, Attorney General of Venezuela said in November that Machado will be considered a "fugitive" if she travels to Norway to collect her Nobel Peace Prize in December.

The 58-year-old is accused of  "acts of conspiracy, incitement of hatred, and terrorism" and is currently in hiding to evade arrest in her home country.
