Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that once the final signatures are placed on the peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the normalisation process between Türkiye and Armenia will progress rapidly.
Fidan made the remarks at a conference held by the Italian Institute of International Affairs (IAI). He noted that following the liberation of occupied territories in Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took a historic step towards peace and relations with Azerbaijan, and he commended him for this move.
The Turkish diplomat also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his role in the process and highlighted that US President Donald Trump strengthened the historic agreement in Washington.
Fidan added that the final signatures are expected to be completed in the first half of next year.
