Armenia to increase defense spending by 20% in 2025
Armenia is preparing to increase its defense budget substantially in 2025, with planned military spending expected to reach 664 billion drams (around $1.71 billion).
This marks a 20% rise over last year, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan announced during recent discussions on the draft state budget.
The expanded budget will represent 6% of Armenia's GDP, an increase of 0.7% from 2024.
Hovhannisyan noted that 55.8% of the capital budget expenditures will be dedicated to defense projects, underscoring the government’s focus on bolstering national security.
