The third meeting of the 3+3 South Caucasus Regional Cooperation Platform, hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, took place on Friday, with discussions centered on establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers adopted a joint declaration, highlighting the role of regional economic cooperation in fostering confidence-building among nations and contributing to prosperity and stability. The declaration emphasized the importance of exploring collaboration in key areas such as transport, communication, trade, energy, investment, and connectivity.
The statement issued after the meeting also underscored the significance of promoting peace and stability through dialogue. "Türkiye will continue to work with regional countries to advance lasting peace and strengthen cooperation in the South Caucasus," it said.
In addition to the platform discussions, Foreign Minister Fidan held bilateral talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Istanbul. The meeting focused on preparations for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s upcoming visit to Kazan, Russia, for the BRICS Summit. Fidan also held separate discussions with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, covering bilateral relations, regional developments, and the ongoing normalization process between Türkiye and Armenia.
The 3+3 platform seeks to foster greater cooperation in the South Caucasus, addressing shared challenges and opportunities for development in the region.
