Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Riyadh on Monday, marking Aoun's first foreign visit since taking office in January.
According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, bin Salman welcomed Aoun at Al-Yamama Palace, where an official reception and talks were held. While details were not disclosed, the visit aims to restore Beirut-Riyadh ties after an eight-year pause in official Lebanese visits to Saudi Arabia.
Aoun, a former army chief, was elected president on January 9, ending a two-year political deadlock. His visit follows the formation of Lebanon’s new government last month under Nawaf Salam, who secured 95 parliamentary votes.
