A brake failure led to a devastating accident on the Peshawar-Karachi Highway, causing multiple fatalities and injuries.
More than 12 people, including passengers and pedestrians, tragically lost their lives, and 25 others were injured in a devastating accident on Pakistan’s Peshawar-Karachi Indus Highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The mishap occurred on Saturday when a trailer, due to brake failure, lost control and crashed into vehicles and pedestrians.
Eight victims died at the scene, while others succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The trailer overturned onto a passenger coach, causing severe casualties and damaging multiple vehicles. Rescue teams and police quickly responded, transferring victims to the District Headquarters Hospital in Karak, with some critically injured patients later moved to Peshawar.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as local residents and officials worked to free trapped victims and assist the injured. Rescue officials warned that the death toll might rise, given the condition of several critically injured individuals.
