President Emomali Rahmon has signed the decree setting the election date. On the same day, elections will also be held for deputies to local self-governing bodies in villages and towns, the statement added.
Additionally, the presidential decree establishes March 28, 2025, as the date for elections to the upper house of Parliament (Majlisi Milli).
The most recent parliamentary elections in Tajikistan were held on March 1, 2020.
Tajikistan's Parliament is bicameral, consisting of the lower house, the Chamber of Representatives (Majlisi Namoyandagon), with 63 deputies, and the upper house, the National Council (Majlisi Milli), comprising 33 members.
