Following high-level talks in Astana, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Rwanda Paul Kagame adopted a joint statement and oversaw the exchange of nine cooperation documents between their countries.
Kazakhstan and Rwanda have taken a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations, as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Paul Kagame signed a Joint Statement during official talks in Astana.
As part of the visit, members of the official delegations exchanged nine key agreements aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors:
- Memorandum of Understanding on Political and Diplomatic Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda.
- Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda.
- Memorandum of Understanding on ICT Cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Information Communication Technology and Innovation of Rwanda.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Higher Education and Science between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Education of Rwanda.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture between the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources of Rwanda.
- Cooperation Agreement between Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism and Sports between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan and the Rwanda Development Board.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Trade between the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Rwanda.
- Memorandum of Understanding between Kazakh Invest National Company JSC and the Rwanda Development Board.
These agreements mark a new chapter in Kazakhstan-Rwanda relations, laying the groundwork for expanded cooperation in diplomacy, finance, education, digital technology, agriculture, tourism, and investment.
