Afghan business representatives are seeking new trade and investment opportunities at Iran’s 26th International Building Industry Exhibition, as they look to expand ties with Iranian and international companies.

The exhibition opened with the participation of Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development; Mohammad Sadegh Mofatteh, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade; as well as diplomats, officials and business representatives.

The Afghanistan–Iran Joint Chamber said the event aims to bring companies together, showcase the construction industry and encourage investment.

“The exhibition is being held with the aim of showcasing the capacities and capabilities of the construction industry, exchanging experiences, expanding trade cooperation, and facilitating investment between domestic and foreign companies.”

Seeking new markets

The chamber said its leadership and an Afghan delegation are attending the exhibition to strengthen trade ties with Iran and explore new areas of cooperation.

“The leadership of the Afghanistan–Iran Joint Chamber and its accompanying delegation have participated in the exhibition with the aim of strengthening economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, identifying new opportunities for cooperation, and expanding engagement between the economic actors of the two countries.”

The chamber said one of its priorities is helping Afghan businesses forge contacts beyond their domestic market and engage with companies from other countries.

Building trade links

According to the chamber, the exhibition provides an opportunity to exchange expertise in the construction sector and showcase industry capabilities to potential partners and investors.

However, the chamber did not say how many Afghan companies are taking part, name individual Afghan exhibitors or announce any agreements signed during the event.
