President Ilham Aliyev arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday for a state visit focused on expanding economic cooperation, transport connectivity and political coordination between the two Turkic nations.
Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were welcomed at Issyk-Kul International Airport in Cholpon-Ata by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and First Lady Aygul Japarova. A guard of honour was assembled for the Azerbaijani president's arrival.
The visit comes as relations between Baku and Bishkek continue to strengthen, with both countries placing increasing emphasis on trade, infrastructure investment and cooperation through the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).

The relationship is also underpinned by shared cultural and historical ties as members of the wider Turkic world. Both governments have increasingly used regional platforms, particularly the Organisation of Turkic States, to coordinate policies on trade, transport and regional integration.
The state visit is expected to result in agreements aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation and further strengthening the strategic partnership between Baku and Bishkek.
