Mounting security tensions in the Middle East, expanding trade between Türkiye and Syria, and Garabagh's UEFA Champions League campaign were among the main stories featured on AnewZ's Daybreak on 24 July.
The programme led with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers, where regional security topped the agenda.
It also examined Pakistan's warning that it could take action under international law if its maritime interests or Pakistan-flagged vessels are threatened, following Houthi threats against Saudi Arabia and shipping in the Red Sea. Islamabad reaffirmed its support for freedom of navigation and expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia as concerns grow over the security of key global trade routes.
Daybreak also reported on plans by Türkiye and Syria to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion as Ankara deepens its economic engagement with post-Assad Syria.
The programme explored efforts to simplify customs procedures, expand cross-border commerce, and position Turkish companies for reconstruction projects in infrastructure, manufacturing and energy as Syria rebuilds its economy.
The programme also covered Garabagh's goalless draw against Bulgaria's CSKA Sofia in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round in Baku.
Despite dominating possession and creating the better chances, the Azerbaijani champions were unable to find a breakthrough and will now travel to Sofia for the decisive second leg.
Daybreak also highlighted the latest international developments, including the Trump administration's new tariffs on imports from 60 trading partners over forced labour concerns, Ukraine's call for a new trilateral meeting with Russia and the U.S., worsening wildfires across Europe, the World Bank's warning about the economic impact of prolonged U.S.-Iran tensions, and deadly flooding in India and Chile.
