Harvey Weinstein appeared in court in New York on January 29, as he faces a new trial on sexual assault charges scheduled for April 15, following an appeal that overturned his 2020 conviction.
Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein appeared in court in New York on Wednesday, January 29, to address a new set of sexual assault charges. Weinstein, who is already serving time for similar crimes, is set to stand trial again on April 15 for allegedly assaulting an unnamed woman in 2006.
Weinstein and his legal team had sought to have the trial date expedited, a request which was denied by Judge Curtis Farber. In 2020, a New York jury convicted Weinstein of sexual assault and rape, though an appeals court later overturned the conviction, resulting in a new trial scheduled for 2024. Additionally, Weinstein was convicted of rape in California in 2022 and is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence.
